More Butterflies

I was putting these stamps away today, after using using them at Stamp Club the other night,
and I thought I'd make just a few more cards before doing so.  Here is my set of 4.
Watercolor Wings.  Bold Butterfly Framelits.  Butterflies Thinlits.

Stamp Club projects August 2015

These Petite Cafe Gift Bags are bound to be a favorite!  I love to give cookies or other little sweets/treats to friends and family.  These will be extra-fabulous to use for the holidays!

The bags do NOT have a window in them.  We added the window by using an oval-shaped framelit to cut the area out and then we backed it with a piece of Window Sheet.  Now the treats will show through the window (when they get added).

We used the Stamp A Bag stamp set.  Here is another view...

We made this card using the Perfect Pennants stamp set and the Banners framelits. These are some of my favorites - I find that I reach for them all the time.  The flowers are from Petite Petals stamp set and are punched out with Petite Petals Punch.  So easy and so gorgeous! The DSP on this card is retired.  But you could use anything that suits your occasion (or your mood).  We used the Circle Framelits to create that great area behind the Banner.

Our third project was this simple but beautiful Butterfly card:

Watercolor Wings is the stamp set, and the leaves come from Summer Silhouettes.
Colors on the butterfly are Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and Memento Black.  The Butterfly is "built" by stamping 3 separate images (one at a time) to create the wings.  The body and antennae are added last.  The color combinations of this are ENDLESS.

Latch Card was a favorite this month!

To make the basic latch card: Start with a piece of card stock 7 1/2" x 5 1/2". This is your base. Score and fold at 3 1/4". 

With base FOLDED, return card stock to Simply Scored with folded edge at left side...

and score 3 more times:  at 3 3/8", 3 1/2" and 3 5/8".  (Do not fold on these score lines.).

These score lines allow the card to be opened, when gently folded back to "unlatch" it from behind your focal point.  In this example, that's the zebra from Zoo Babies stamp set..
Add DSP, card stock, other stamped images, embellishments etc per your choice.
With small adjustments you can alter the look of a Latch Card greatly. Use your imagination!

The Hardwood background stamp really looks great - looks like a door or fence!

Lastly, we made a Birthday card using the Birthday Yay stamp set and the coordinating Handpicked Framelits :

 Probably my favorite part about this is the fantastic papers from Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack and of course some Sequin Trim (Bermuda Bay) to give it pizzazz!

Stamp Club April 2015

This week we made a birthday card with a simple but unique fold.

This is what it looks like when its open.

 To get the look, start with a piece of cardstock measuring 4 1/4" x 11".  (We found that it actually closes more flat and without buckling, if you trim the length down just a bit, about 1/8"). Lay the card stock landscape on the Simply Scored and score at 2 1/2" and at 6 3/4".  On the end with the smaller section, use the Scallop Border Punch across the edge.  A piece of DSP measuring 4" x 4" fits just right on the front of the card. Most of the punches and decorations speak for themselves, or could be changed to suit your occasion.  But here is how to place the 2 1/2" circle punch in just the right spot: slide the punch in from the correct long edge of the cardstock and allow it to go in as far as it will go.  At the same time, line up the score line so that it is right in the center of the circle.  It's easy to see when using the punch upside down.  Punch!
(Products used: Amazing Birthday stamp set, Four You stamp set, 2 1/2" circle punch, 1 3/4" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch, 2 3/8" scallop circle punch, Scallop Edge Border punch, Night of Navy ink pad, Mossy Meadow ink pad, Markers in: Night of Navy, Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral, Metallic Baker's Twine (gold), Dimensionals)

The next card features the Daydream Medallions stamp set. We used one of the medallion stamps to resemble a wreath and added punched flowers to complete the look.  We stamped "Happy Mother's Day" inside to make this a Mother's Day card, but it could fit other occasions too.

Products used:  Daydream Medallions stamp set, Something to Say stamp set, Itty Bitty Accents punch pack, small flower punch - retired, 1/8" circle punch, Champagne Glimmer paper, Melon Mambo card stock, Daffodil Delight card stock, Old Olive card stock, Whisper White card stock, Old Olive ink pad, Pearl Basic Jewels, Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

The third card, another birthday card, features the Banner punch which I love!  I used retired DSP, but nearly any paper would make a cute banner-garland.  Just coordinate the colors to your card and theme.

The Smoky Slate background card stock went through the Big Shot with the Chevron embossing folder.  The stamp set is Balloon Bash.  Other products used: Scalloped Tag Topper punch, Chalk Talk framelits, Crushed Curry ink pad, Smoky Slate ink pad, Coastal Cabana card stock, Whisper White card stock and white Baker's Twine.  Glue dots and dimensionals were also used.

Amazing Card in a Box!

It seems impossible that I hadn't seen these before, but they just came to my attention a couple weeks ago.  My friend and downline-demonstrator Laura Schroder has been making these and she showed me some of her samples---AMAZING!  Of course that lead to a Google and YouTube search to find out more and get some directions and dimensions.  The sites I'd like to give credit to are:  Sandi MacIver @ Stamping With Sandi,   and also Tina Weller "The Serene Stamper". I received inspiration from both tutorials and then set out to make some of my own.

I made 2 Baby Cards (not gender specific) for my 2 daughters who are both expecting.  Unfortunately I neglected to take a picture of theirs before dropping them in the mail.  I had to grab this from FB, but at least you can see it:




It is the smaller size which fits in a standard "invitation" or A-2 envelope - the size we commonly use for cards that measure 4 1/4" x 5 1/2".

I also made a baby one that is for a girl, all pink and purple, since we had a new baby girl added to the family in March.

Next, I set out to make something floral, and this is what I came up with:

And because this is Easter week, I was compelled to make one with a bunny and eggs and grass! The size of this one is larger.  It ends up being a 6" x 6" "card" so I made a custom envelope with the Envelope Punch Board to accommodate it:

The last one I completed has a Birthday theme.  I really love the balloons and candles!

I haven't shown you the back yet! So you can see on this one...the tall portion in back, that does not fold down, offers a space for you to write your message to the recipient, of course I decorated that a bit too:

Stamp Club March 2015

This month we made 3 projects.  Both card ideas were handed down to me from my good friend, and fellow demonstrator, Dee Hunt.  Thanks Dee!

This first features a paper-cutting trick that is very simple but very effective.  The DSP begins as a piece that measures 5" x 4 1/4".  It is cut vertically at 2 1/4". Then the wider strip is turned and cut at 3 1/4".  The narrow strip (from the first cut) is turned and cut at 3". This gives you all 4 pieces you need.  2 of the 4 pieces get flipped over to reveal the coordinating side of the DSP.

 Finishing touches made with Perfect Pennants stamp set, punches and pearls.
Here are a few other cards done with the same technique, just different stamps and DSP.

You would never guess it, but this next card is made using the Work of Art stamp set. The short brush-stroke stamp is used to make the flower "petals" as well as the "leaves".  It's very artistic and almost "watercolor" looking.  It would look great in lots of colors!

My friend Mary has been in my Stamp Club for many years now.  She is a very sweet and generous person.  I love having Mary in my group!  Mary donated these adorable Bath Bubbles bottles to our group this month.  All they needed were a little "dressing up" Stampin' Up style!

We used various papers from the "All Abloom" DSP paper stack.  Each one was cuter than the next!  A quick tag on the front was made with One Tag Fits All stamp set and the coordinating Note Tag Punch.  A little glue-pen and glitter gave the gem just the right amount of sparkle.  An additional tag was tied to the neck of the bottle.  This little stamp is from the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set.  We attached it with some thick Baker's Twine in Strawberry Slush.

Stamp Club projects February 2015

Our projects this month were pretty straight-forward:  3 cards with Birthday theme.  We need birthday cards all year long!

First card was copied (nearly identically) from the Jan/Feb edition of Stampin' Success (a Demonstrator-only resource magazine).  This card features the balloon stamps from Balloon Bash stamp set in the Occasions catalog page 13 as well as the Bow Builder Punch.  So delightful!!

This second card also features the Balloon Bash stamp set.  White embossing and black cardstock create the chalk-board effect.  Of course, our new Chalkboard Paper would make a perfect choice as well. That fantastic background was created by repeatedly stamping the spots (from Best Day Ever in Sale-A-Bration brochure) in Melon Mambo ink to get a light, medium and dark effect.  Small flowers added from Petite Petals stamp set. This same card would look fantastic in other color combos:  Black/White/Yellow.  Black/White/Red.  Black/White/turquoise etc. What do you think?

 Lastly is the bright, super happy card featuring the Hello You Thinlits dies.  These 4 words (You, Happy, Hello, Thanks) are soooo adorable when cut out and added to your card.  Remember to use a piece of wax paper between the thinlit and the card stock for easy removal after running through Big Shot. The texture on the vertical banner is from Decorative Dots embossing folder.  And the DSP is a retired pattern from a Paper Stack last year.  "Birthday" "Celebrating" and "You" are all from Crazy About You stamp set in the Occasions catalog.
